Hello everyone, I much appreciate your work on the ntfs-3g driver, I think that ntfs is the only file system that can be used on linux and windows together. However, there seems to be a performance problem with the ntfs-3g driver: I get write rates of about 3 mb/s as opposed to about 90 mb/s with different file system types on the same disk. Also I have a very high CPU load, caused by the mount.ntfs process.
Looking at http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-embedded/performance/ I am wondering whether the slow perfromance is intentional to give people a reason to buy the high-performance version. Note that this problem seems to be well-known https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ntfs-3g/+bug/554764 http://serverfault.com/questions/333046/ntfs-3g-poor-write-speed http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1910036 http://www.swook.net/2011/10/slow-ntfs-3g-with-oneiric.html I would be happy to supply you with some tracing results or help you to troubleshoot the problem if you are interested in solving it. g4hx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
