Congruent with this example I wrote in my example: \startxmlsetups notes:setups \xmlinclude{#1}{include}{file} \xmlsetsetup{#1}{*}{-} \xmlsetsetup{#1}{takenotes}{notes:*} \stopxmlsetups expecting this to mean that <takenotes> will be activated by it.
