If you assemble a packet that goes outside a host you must always be careful to
ensure that packets are marshalled/unmarshalled in network order and fixed size
so hosts of different endianness and word size can communicate.
I assume your supernode is on a different architecture to edge and so
interoperability needs to be ensured.
