  Yes, I know Opterons are better for this, but we have the following
problem. None of the "OEM Security Appliance" providers use Opterons,
and few "brand" names use them. If we purchase one of those branded
names (HP, Sun) we will find another problem, we dont know of any PCI
card (Express) with 2x Gigabit Ethernets but at the same time with LAN
Bypass feature. 

  As most of this boxes are used for QoS and NetFlow, most clients like
the option of (LAN Bypass the box, as do appliances from Packeteer and
such. So we are kind of stuck at this moment with Intel and Xeon, but if
you know of any ... ? :)

  The problem seems to be with latest versions of 2.6 They are changing
a lot of stuff and seems to affect the bridging part too offen.
