It seems that we are having an issue unloading the ring module. We are working on tuning num_slots in order to prevent packet loss on our sensor but we keep ending up in the situation where we can't unload the module and have to reboot. What I believe is triggering the module usage is when you move in and out of the /proc/net/pf_ring directory. When the machine first booted I loaded the module and then moved into this directory. Usage goes up by one and when you leave the directory it goes down to 0. If I moved into the directory and then got onto a second shell and moved into the directory as well, usage would go to 4. After moving both shells out of the directory it was hung up at three and since no processes are using the ring there is nothing that I'm away can be done other than rebooting. Somehow I've gotten usage up to 61. Any ideas what we might have done wrong?
