Jaime
your idea is good but so far beside 1 (one) exception, can't remember
of anyone who donated a penny for PF_RING :-(

Hi all,
I have just changed the license for libpfring.
This kind of change (to lgpl) for sure favors the usage of such
software with commercial products but at the same time, reduces your
chances to get some funding.
IMHO, maintaining it as GPL forces those interested in "proprietary"
software to "pay" for such change. I'm not saying this should not be
available, only that it should be done on a selective (under contract)
manner.
In essence is the classical dual licensing business model that player
like MySQL have followed (recall its library change from LGPL to GPL
to
strength this even further?)
IMHO, I would set a price for that that allows to fund your extremely
valuable work. Actually, I would set two different price levels, one
for
LGPL licensing (in essence the library is open while maintaining the
app
closed) and even BSD (for those that what all closed).
I know this goes against the community, but at the same time, helps
the survival of the project itself (and thus the community :)
