I uninstalled and then reinstalled and somehow /etc/init.d/pf_ring
dissapeared.

I copied it from a SVN copy and tried to start pf_ring but had no success:

# /etc/init.d/pf_ring start
Starting PF_RING module: PF_RING not enabled
                                                           [  OK  ]
# lsmod | grep pf_
#
