Did you try adding -a (active wait) to pfcount?
I haven't - I'll try that out today.
Did you configure the maximum number of rx slots (32K) in the RX ring (see ethtool -g)?
I did indeed. This is done in the load_driver.sh script if I recall (I'm not at my desk at the moment), and I've not touched the latter sections of that script.
I'll double check though that the rx slots is set to 32K.
What is your sustained rate on that machine with ZC when receiving continuous traffic?
