Std log - wherever that goes...
The dump shows the parameters fed into rrd_graph (rrdtool graph is the
command line equivalent) and parms are passed through argv[] just like the
command line...

So my example becomes:

rrdtool graph /usr/share/ntop/rrd/graphics/now-12h-4.png --lazy --imgformat
PNG --vertical-label "" --start now-12h --end now

Hi Burton,

Thanks for that - but...

Tried the debug setting below, but haven't seen anything in syslog - does it
go to a different local?

Also downloaded the latest RRD and successfully graphed the data (no
blocks...) Although the difference in scales for some of the data ended up
giving me a grpah that looked as though it was for http only, the graph
itself had nice peaks & troughs.

Is there a way for me to all the local rrd stuff outside of NTOP to test
it??

Cheers
Dave Callaghan

That's some sort of rrd problem - either that or you really do have weird
data - 600K of traffic per second with no other data and almost no
variation.

In plugins/rrdPlugin.c, look at graphSummary() - you'll see there's no
setting of axis values. rrdtool decides this for itself, which is supposed
to be based on the data it sees.

In fact, if you enable the DEBUG lines there (look for the #if 0 and make
the printf's into traceEvent()), you can see in the log the actual
parameters fed into rrdtool:

  for(i=0; i<argc; i++)
    traceEvent(CONST_TRACE_NOISY, "RRD_DEBUG: [%d][%s]", i, argv[i]);

Gives you:

Jan 17 08:05:46 tigger ntop[21613]: RRD_DEBUG: [0][rrd_graph]
Jan 17 08:05:46 tigger ntop[21613]: RRD_DEBUG:

Jan 17 08:05:46 tigger ntop[21613]: RRD_DEBUG:

(etc.)

If you have rrdtool installed, you can use this to create the same graph
manually:

rrdtool graph out.png --lazy --imgformat PNG --vertical-label "" --start
now-12h --end now
DEF:ctr0=/usr/share/ntop/rrd/interfaces/eth1/IP_WebBytes.rrd:counter:AVERA
GE
AREA:ctr0#1E90FF:
DEF:ctr1=/usr/share/ntop/rrd/interfaces/eth1/IP_DNSBytes.rrd:counter:AVERA
GE
STACK:ctr1#FFFF00:DNS

Doing this manually with just a few rrds may show the expected value.
