So include that the disaster recovery plan for your PDC is to promote a BDC
to PDC, then rebuild your PDC. I can understand your situation, but you
should try to make them understand that this is all you need to do. If they
won't, ask them who knows more about computers and networking - them or you.
If they say you, then ask them why they don't trust your decision. Show
them how it works if they want. It doesn't hurt anything to promote a BDC
to PDC, then promote the old PDC back to it's oroginal PDC role - we have
done it before. Granted, it was for a different reason, but it definitely
won't hurt.

I know you are right but unfortunately I have to draw up a plan for Disaster
recovery for every server in my domain i.e from scratch. What can I say its
a project!

Why do you want to worry about backing up a PDC? If it dies, you promote a
BDC to PDC and you are done in 5 minutes. You do have BDC's in place,
right? As long as you do, and you don't have other apps running on your
PDC, you don't need to worry about it.

Subject: Backup PDC

Hello everybody. I am currently working on a disaster recovery plan and I
have a question. I am currently using Backup Exec 7.3. I want to backup
a Primary domain controller and restore it on to a different machine. Do
I have to take certain steps in doing the above or is a staright forward
job. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really
appreciate it. Thanks

Maurice
