Wiping out most of Afghanistan because their leaders have harbored and
encouraged jerks like Bin Laden will be tragic - but it's all part of war.
Enough appeasement. Chamberlain proved the fallacy of that argument 60
years ago. And it's been proven a joke again in the past 10.
Time to draw the line in the sand (literally). Step over the line, time to
get smacked.

Well, that's one of the reactions terrorism is trying to provoke. Most

the world finds US policy to be obnoxious, and a violent large scale
reaction will effectively alienate the US from the rest of the world.
