Great - I planned on doing it when I had lots of recovery time just in case.

Thanks for the information!

Then, I can't think of any other pitfalls. There will be server downtime when you do this, though, so factor that into your plans...

It definitely is NDS for NT not the Corporate Edition.  The docs say it should be possible with a choice to restore the SAM to the original condition which I believe would wipe stuff or - or to update the Sam when it un installs which looks like it would leave things they way they are.  I hope I am reading that right at least.

Hi Jim,
What version of NDS are you using? If it is indeed NDS for NT and NOT NDS Corporate Edition, you shouldbe able to do this without problems. Newer versions of NDS actually replace the NT SAM and I have witnessed cases where the removal of NDS has replaced the NT SAM with the one that existed when NDS was installed, wiping out months of user accounts and settings.
Did you integrate your NT servers into the NDS Tree?
I believe NDS for NT didn't replace the SAM so you should be ok.
Obvious coments about baking everything up etc etc before you start...
Good luck

Folks

I am sorry if this seems off topic - it is a question regarding Novell and NT being joined together and the possibility of breaking that link.

Domain is Win NT 4 sp6a PDC and BDC Novell 4.11 NDS single server.  Clients mix of mainly win 98 and a few 2000/NT WS.

A prior admin "joined" the NT domain with the Novell NDS by using NDS for NT by Novell.  I would like to break that link and keep things separate.  I have seen it networks that needed both function much better when NT and Novell are not aware of each other.  There are no Novell Resources need by any NT servers.  I realize it will require more administration but I actually prefer that.

Has anyone ever broken this link?  I have a KB from Novell Doc ID 10011753.  Any one know of any pitfalls

TIA

Jim
