Well as long as the guest group is not implicitly denied access to anything then you should be ok. But I would make it a point to get that resovled. Is he able to logon to other machines and have his profile stay?

New sid is next on my list - am in the process of pulling the machine off the domain and back on to see if that helps - not sure on the guest group ....... everyone is..... one of many hangovers from a terrible migration from Novell :-{

It really shouldnt matter but I just wanted to be sure. You said he is a member of the guest group? Why? Also, have you tried deleting and recreating his domain account, thus creating a new SID?

no local groups... for either of us... he is a standard user - so domain users, users, domain guests & guests... along with a bunch of application access specific groups. I'm in administrators, domain admins etc.

I'm a little confused as to why this should matter - none of the other people who have the exact same setup are experiencing this.....

Subject: Disappearing User profile

Hope someone can help on this one..... We have a user (My boss) who's profile "disappears" every time he logs off. When he subsequently logs back on, he gets a vanilla profile again... Office 2000 tries to reconfigure itself etc. and if I log him off and login as an admin there is no profile directory created.

If I login on his machine - a profile is created and saved.... it only appears to affect him.

Windows 2000 - SP2 with all the patches from Windows Update.....

Any ideas how I can get it to save his profile??

Cheers
Jack
