I have one medium client , about 75 users in corporate, 25 in PA, 25 in UK, and another 30 or so travelling constantly. We tried a few different products for group meetings, and ended up with Skype business (which just recently came out). It does work well, but the bandwidth requirements are high. If I recall it was 1mb per user per conference, so a 10 user vid conference wanted 10mbs. This is fine for corp who has a 10/100 fiber, and actually okay for most of the travelling people with good 4g or at their homes on dsl/cable, but the other 2 offices UK and PA who only have 3MB connections made it hard to get them to participate in any of the larger video conferencing.

However I am somewhat concerned about the following issues: 1. Lack of administration facilities such as locking down/disabling certain Skype functions. I know that Windows 2008 group policy administrative templates exist but read somewhere that these might not be compatible with future newer versions of Skype. In fact Skype no longer supplies such templates. 2. Network bandwidth hogging. How serious an issue is this? Each workstation is connected via a 100 MB link to our core switch. Our Internet broadband link speed is 4 Mbps for download and upload connections. 3. Security issues. How serious are these? Has anyone deployed and using Skype within a corporate environment? Any issues encountered? Things to watch out for?
