We're in the process of moving documents to SharePoint. I'm not handling this project, but I have convinced management to purchase more storage as a result. The combination of office 2010 and sharepoint 2010 so far appears to be the ideal combination, especially if you have SharePoint Workspace 2010, which makes uploading documents en masse much simplier.
