It doesn't matter if you have nothing to hide. It doesn't. It's none of their business at all.
It is a matter of evaluating companies and what they do and deciding the one that is least likely to do things you object to. If their primary business motivator is something that you find might lead them to areas you'd rather not go, then pick their competitor.
