There is a setting to update vmtools on reboot. We used to have that enabled until vmware had a bug or two that allowed anyone to initate an update (causing weird outages on some servers). Since then we disable that until we do a back end upgrade. Then just run a script to enable it when we do server patching and disable it again afterwards. Steven Peck http://www.blkmtn.org
