I recommend, quite strongly, that you buy yourself a book. A beginner's book such as "PowerShell In A Month of Lunches".
In Win8/Server 2012 everything is PowerShell. The GUI's have far few capabilities than the command line, and you can be certain that that is the future. If you haven't learned PowerShell yet - you are already behind the curve.
