E2k7 SP1 server, mailboxes on the server (no psts if we can help it) attaching via MAPI. I've run both in cached and non-cached mode on OLK7 and not seen these problems with search.
Our mailbox limits are pretty low, and mine is currently under 200Mb. Our largest mailboxes hit about 1GB, and I've not heard of this issue from my boss (who is at 1GB and also using OLK7). Maybe there are indexing issues when mailboxes reach a certain size? -Bonnie From: Christopher J. The people not having issues, what type of account / accounts are you using? Perhaps if connected to Exchange, it has to talk to the server for search, and that's what causing the problem? The one overriding piece of crapness with MS kit that has been a thorn in my side for the last year has been Instant Search in Outlook 2007. It just doesn't work. I have read Lord knows how many blogs and articles on the subject but so far it seems there is still no consensus as to why it fails to operate for any longer than a week or so at a time. Last week I tried rebuilding all the indexes - usually a winner, however this time... no dice. So I discover _another_ new article explaining that unchecking (!!!) the folder in question from the list of folders to be searched works. This didn't work for me, however I found that unchecking the box, killing Outlook, starting outlook, checking the box again and then killing and starting Outlook again kicked the indexer off correctly and it reindexed all the mailboxes and PSTs correctly. One week later and suddenly I am only getting results from the last week from my mailbox (which contains about 4 months worth of email) - results from all PSTs are being returned fine. I am about to go back through the "fix" again to try to resolve the issue, but thought, through a mixed haze of anger and incredulity that I should share my pain and see if others are still having this problem with Search!
