YMMV, I believe, too. Personally, I've not seen the substance. I get frustrated with technology pretty easily if it doesn't work the way I do. And, when that happens it comes off the PC fairly quickly. I treat my computer as something critical to my well being. If I feel an application is just taking up space, instead of providing value to me, I don't keep it there. I've downloaded FF so many times, and removed it within a day of installation.
As for security -- I've never been hijacked, or scripted. No Maxthon here. Again, I'm a software minimalist. Maxthon adds features that I'll never use. I just want to work. I might agree with the view of FF, if it weren't for Opera. Opera kind of puts the whole hype versus value to rest. Just my opinion. -----Original Message----- From: Micheal Espinola Jr [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 10:35 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Re: Firefox 3.0 Download Day I think the success of Firefox has gone way beyond hype at this point. And, I have posted here multiple times on my comparisons of IE memory use vs. Firefox; the majority of those tests have been negative to IE. I wasnt looking to get into YABA, but while FF only gets better, IE only gets worse. Its only saving grace in the past few years has been add-ons like Maxthon. Security-wise, I can point you to plenty of sites that will exploit the hell out of IE but cant to FF. I dont appreciate the Mac-zealot style of hype that FF users promote - but the hype has substance.
