The 80s version of Bang a Gong was done by Powerstation. Last Train to
Clarksville was remade by the Plastics.

OK, let me try, since it is Friday, and I AM a state employee.

1. Short Bus, by the Window Lickers (British Punk band, not really my
cuppa)
2. Too Sexy, by Right Said Fred (we used to play this at work for one
of the docs)
3. Sunglasses at Night, by Corey Hart, 1983
4. Little Red Corvette, by Prince (before he changed his name)
5. Panama, by Van Halen (with the sexy lead singer, David Lee Roth. I
wonder what he looks like now)
6. Always Something There to Remind Me, by Naked Eyes (a remake)
7. Rebel Yell, by Billy Idol
8. More, More, More, by Rachel Stevens
9. Shook Me All Night Long, by AC/DC
10. Dancing with Myself, by Billy Idol (the 80's were good to Billy)
11. Spin Me Right Round (like a record baby), by Dead or Alive (this
song is still one of my personal faves)
12. Missionary Man, by Annie Lenox
13. Relax (don't do it), by Frankie Goes to Hollywood (and a favorite
in gay bars still)
14. Rock My Kingdom, by Run DMC
15. Mexican Radio, by Wall of Voodoo, 1987
16. Little Pink Houses, by John Cougar (Mellencamp)
17. Pretty in Pink, by the Psychedelic Furs (also a movie)
18. What I Like About you, by the Romantics
19. Sultans of Swing, by Dire Straits
20. Blinded Me with Science, by Thomas Dolby (another personal
favorite)
21. Sledgehammer, by Peter Gabriel
22. Goody Two Shoes, by Adam Ant
23. Burning Down the House, by Talking Heads
24. Turning Japanese, by the Vapors
25. We're Not Gonna Take It, by Twisted Sister
26. Cuts Like a Knife, by Brian Adams
27. Broken Wings, by Mr. Mister
28. Bang a Gong, by T. Rex
29. Legs, by ZZ Top
30. Rock You Like a Hurricane, by the Scorpions
31. Walk 500 Miles, by the Proclaimers
32. Last Train to Clarksville, by the Monkees (foul! This song is from
the 60's)
33. Losing My Religion, by REM
34. Ain't No Sunshine, by Bill Withers (Aw Come On! 1971)
35. Ain't No Mountain High Enough, by Diana Ross (another out of time
period, and recorded by others previously)
36. Der Kommisar, by Falco
37. Everybody Wants to Rule the World, by Tears for Fears
38. Own Personal Jesus, by depressed - er, um, Depeche Mode
39. Roxanne, by the Police (back before Sting left the group and became
famous on his own

I probably missed some songs done by Punk bands, because I wasn't into
them. And where are works by Duran Duran, Golden Earring, Hall and
Oates. Pretty Lame, folks

For those of us that were there, all synthesizers (even that cool guitar
looking one they used) and an electronic drum beat = beginning of
techno.

"I Ran" was not techno - and that article doesn't say anything about
them being techno either. AFAIK, they are "New Wave". No?

Grated though, the Techno article states that it started in the
mid-80's:

   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techno

Although, personally, I dont recall the techno classification until
the 90's. Sure, its certainly rooted in the late 80's, but was it a
defined sound/genre then? Seems a stretch to me.

AFAICR, mid-to-late 80's was House, and Techno wasn't established
until the 90's.

I'm open to being wrong. It wouldnt surprise me.
