I don't believe we're in the same boat.  We were a NetWare shop until June
of '07.  The previous admin new NetWare, but not much else.  I can't see
that any of our applications have a need for WINS.  This particular
application I was having a problem with needs to resolve to an IP address by
name, which DNS is more than capable of handling. :-)
I've seen reports here and there about VPN issues when a WINS server isn't
present, I'll have to test that scenario with our VPN, but I don't
anticipate that being a problem.
