Thanks! I pointed this out only because the OP looks like they may not be running any Windows servers in their environment...

I am waiting for the replacement to do a 2008 install. It also needs either SQL Express or SQL 200x. It was designed for 2000 but works on 2005 if done correctly. I don't have any idea on a SQL 2008(?) install. I know you have to watch the install and there are a few gotcha's for a SQL 2005 install. Most of the gotcha's are mute if you have SQL up and running PRIOR to putting in SharePoint 3 SP 1. If you try doing them both at the same time you can get burned. Or will it run on other OSen? I think it won't, based on this - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288751.aspx, plus, it needs IIS and .NET components. It does not have all the features of the full version but I think it will do what you want done. The higher ups would like to have the ability to have an email auto sent when certain documents, like policies, are up for review. We went to a seminar this past week on Sharepoint. Of course Sharepoint can do what we are looking for but it has a nice price tag with it as well since you need Office 07 to get the full functionality. Unfortunately we are a not for profit and run Open Office on 80% of our desktops.
