Good time to chuck that video if that is indicative of the quality of
the guy's advice. Would have been fun if he was at the ESE session I
attended today with one of the primary ESE devswho doesn't suffer a fool
well.

 

You only need to do it if there is some gain to be had, like after a big
migration or mass deletion., removal of GC role etc. How big is your
dit? (no Shook answers required)

 

You can turn on garbage collection logging and an event will be written
to the event log telling you the size of the dit and what could be
reclaimed.

Has anyone ever heard of defragging or compacting the ntds.dit file once
a month?

According to these videos I have to study from, the guy sez once a
month, heck I never did it and non of the engineers here has ever heard
of doing it.

It's not like we have a revolving door here,  2 or 3 accounts a month.
