I picked up a portable A/C unit at Pep Boys, somewhere in the 9,000 to
12,000 BTU range, I'd have to look again to see for sure. It's about 2 feet
tall, 1.5 feet wide, and less than 1 foot deep, has air vents blowing out of
the top, and a dryer vent type hose that you can either install a permanent
dock for ( like a dryer ) or create a temp with a piece of 1" x 1' board,
with a circle cut in ... I've got a couple different ones I made to fit
different window opening sizes in my house.

Biggest issue with a portable unit is making a provision for the
condensation. Most have an internal pan with a blockable/tapable drain but
shut off the A/C portion when full to prevent overflow ... you *can* drain
into a larger pan with a pump if stopping to drain the portable unit is an
issue for you. And how often you need to drain depends on how long you run
the A/C, and the relative humidity in the area where you run.

similar to this unit ... http://www.bestvacuum.com/sunpentown-wa9020e.html

but it's 2 to 3 times the cost of a window unit. I've got friends that
found it easier to frame an opening in the garage wall and peramanently
mount a window unit in the opening, and for less $$$ too

And I have blonde highlights.....

So to bring it back on topic. This was actually some information I needed
for a personal usage. Looking at turning part of a 2-car garage into a
workshop/art studio real soon, so this information was really what I needed
to help me find the right equipment for environmentals.

All I'll say is:

1) No, she's not blonde. She's a lanky, beautiful brunette.
2) It's a true story.

3) Strictly back on topic from now on...
