I concur, but thought it might be a handy first pass since she wouldn't have
to try to navigate IE anywhere to download and install ( like for
malwarebytes ) if it had any effect at all on antivirus2010

I wouldn't leave antivirus removal or detection to the MSRT, at least not by
itself. I always thought it was obsessed with the more widespread virus
variants, although I haven't checked the documentation that comes with it
for a long time.

Just a quick question, anyone know for sure if the Microsoft Malicious
Software Removal Tool is effective against the Antivirus 2010 malware ?  
( heard from a non-tech friend out of state that got hit on her netbook )
