Bank and financial software is notorious for this.  It's because they
don't want to pay developers to upgrade their software.  It's scary to
think that your life savings may depend on some 16-bit app running on a
486 workstation.

I went to install one of our PITA pieces of client software yesterday
and it told me it couldn't install on Windows 98. I was using Server
2008 R2. I think it's time they released an update.

This is the second issue I've had with a so-called "help desk" this
