We run Cisco phones throughout our stores. You can page to speaker on them but it is pretty useless due to the size of our stores. We ended up paging over the existing music/speaker system using a device from cyberdata that basically has a POE port and an rca out. Just wire the output to the paging inputs on an analogue amp and plug the poe port into a poe switch. It is a sip device.
They have quite a few different options that you may find useful http://www.cyberdata.net/products/voip/digitalanalog/index.html -----Original Message----- From: Matthew W. I hate the intercom/bell system in our schools. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but they're troublesome, difficult to program, and very old. I've got the opportunity to try a new system in a tiny school with only 4 rooms. So I' have been looking at IP based systems. So far, I've found that they are mostly SIP phone systems with special (and very expensive) VOIP speakers. Is there a system that can use existing analog speakers, but the "head-end" is IP Addressable? Or perhaps there are cheaper VOIP speakers/adapters out there somewhere? Can anybody here recommend for (or against) such a system? I _need_ the following features: * Broadcasting (All Call) * Medium to Complex bell schedules to specific zones. * Two way communication with a specific room. It's a long shot, but I figured I would ask. --Matt Ross Ephrata School District ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
