That's funny There was an article / tech analysis with the iPhone 3G from AT&T Europe that analyzed cell tower logs; they claimed it was the iPhone that dropped the connection. I think it was on cnet or zdnet.
I switched from AT&T with iPhone to DroidX with Verizon. Suddenly I could place calls from inside the parking garage all the way to a major cross street. With the iPhone, I had to go 4 lights to the cross street until a call would stay connected. 4 bars in most places, but would always drop calls. Now, when I get dropped calls it's always because I have less than 1 bar. The ironic thing was a week after I switched, the AT&T rep called the cell line (business) and asked how my phone was working. I told him since I switched to Verizon it was working fine. LOL! I'll give the guy credit, his next question was just a smooth "how can we prevent that for your other lines?" == John == From: Free, Bob [mailto:r...@pge.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 9:10 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Verizon Data Services down Saw Lewis Black in Reno last fall and he did a 5 minute rant about AT&T, iPhones and how AT&T will sell you a piece of HW you can put in your house to extend their network for them... it was totally hilarious From: Mayo, Bill [mailto:bem...@pittcountync.gov] Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 8:59 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Verizon Data Services down I have an iPhone on AT&T. Over 10 years and I figure all you people that have so many issues with them either have iPhones or something. I have an iPhone fanatic next cube over and I'm using my phone and he's complaining about dropped calls. I had a Nokia and now a Windows Phone. Our office BlackBerries were on ATT, then went Verizon and have now returned to the stable service we had with ATT as Verizon after a rather awful time on Verizon. I have noted slight differences in reception with my various personal phones and my blackberries (both on the same ATT network) over the years. (Yes, I have two phones, my work phone and my personal phone - policy issue) Have there been rough patches? Sure, the ATT / Cingular merger resulted in a few annoying months that eventually smoothed out as they corrected tower issues. I look forward to the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth as the iPhones infect the Verizon network, cause it's not an Apple issue if you hold it wrong :) Steven Peck http://www.blkmtn.org On Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 5:55 AM, Maglinger, Paul <pmaglin...@scvl.com<mailto:pmaglin...@scvl.com>> wrote: <rant> You think you have problems?
