I suspect that's bullsh*t. Most of the "service" VZW shops do amounts to pulling the battery and clearing all settings. (I've had people come to me more than once and say their BB didn't work since VZW "fixed it". Turns out they just reset a bunch of stuff, so we had to reactivate and restore.) There's no special skills or toolset needed. <rant> VZW makes up all sorts of lies about why they don't do stuff. They told us the BB 8830 would be able to do GPS/nav/maps. When delivered, the GPS API was disabled. VZW claimed it was because they couldn't allow GPS until they made sure it was compatible with their network. I have a statement marked "VZW Corporate PR - Do Not Modify" from them about it. There are several things wrong with that, but the biggest is that the GPS receiver is part of the E911 location function, which is required for FCC certification. Also, same model from Sprint worked just fine, roaming on VZW's towers. So Sprint's phones actually worked better with VZW's network than VZW's phones did. The real reason they disabled the GPS API was to sell their "VZ Navigator" service -- which wasn't working on the 8830 at time of release. </rant> -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
