I just tested this on 2008 R2 and it let me run it without issue, spaces or no spaces. However the auto complete was navigating to the folders as fast as I could type, so don't know whether this auto-discovery function is a factor or not.
However, on my XP desktop, I can't do it without quotes if there are spaces in the folder name. ???
