  That's a definite "Maybe".  It will depend on bandwidth, latency,
name resolution, how users access resources, what permissions they
have, how their profiles are setup, how patient the users are, etc.,
etc.

  For example, if users are used to using mapped drives configured in
their individual profiles, and profiles don't roam, then when they
login at the remote locations they won't see the mapped drives.  Or
maybe it's a high latency link and you're trying to access a shared
file database.  Or maybe everyone is used to using NetBIOS names and
you don't have WINS so the names aren't visible at remote sites.  Or
maybe...

  You keep mentioning best practices.  Best practices include planning
major changes, and testing things in advance of deployment.
