Jerry, Yes, I've seen that. Clearly, however, it's undesirable to obscure the viewer with content that will make the compositing of an image more difficult. It seems sad to me that we are reduced to obscuring our primary viewing region with property-related material because we can't figure out how to properly utilize the property panel due to insufficient documentation.

I'm afraid I can't offer any consolation at the moment - you're right. If you really need to display a histogram, one way round this is to calculate your own histogram and display it in the viewer using draw_handles(). This is the method used by tools such as J_Scopes, for example. Jerry On 1 Jun 2011, at 17:07, Steven Booth wrote: Jerry, I can easily see that it might be regarded as private (although from my point of view, histograms are a very useful UI tool). However, if that were the case, it really should not have been included in the 'knobs.h' file, since, the documentation states: "For a detailed list of all the functions you can call, see the Knobs.h<file:///C:\Program%20Files\Nuke6.2v2\Documentation\NDK\Plugins\Knobs_8h.html> header file." I was just replying to the Qt part of your message. I suspect that the hiding of the Histogram_Data struct is probably because it was originally regarded as a private knob for the Histogram node and nobody else would want to make use of it. Jerry On 1 Jun 2011, at 16:48, Steven Booth wrote: Jerry, Understood. However, is it really the case that hiding the 'Histogram_Data' structure from your developers is a consequence of Qt license issues? I know Qt fairly well, and I'm not aware of a 'Histogram' class in it. I'm frankly dubious that using Qt as a justification for omitting Histogram_Data is valid. I, personally, would love to have Qt included in the DDImage dependencies, and permit us access not only to that, but to the necessary information to define our own knobs. It's a relative mystery to me why this isn't currently available. As with nearly all things in life which are baffling and appear to make no sense, lawyers are involved. Our Qt license prohibits us from exposing the Qt API to users, although we are in the process of moving to the newer LGPL Qt.
