We don't currently have a concrete purpose for this particular donation by itself, but it certainly helps the project to have funds to spend in a way we think is most effective. It has enabled the creation of a fellowship last year, and it makes it much easier to make decisions like spending some money on keeping Cirrus CI running on platforms for which there aren't any free options.
