Which version of autoconf is installed on RHEL4? Note that you can
also grab the tarballs from the Buildbots, in which case you don't
need to run autoconf, but can call configure right away.

Haven't got time at the moment to figure out what's wrong with ippon
subdriver, will try to do it this evening.
We probably need a small delay between sending a command and reading
the reply. Currently it seems to read just three characters. Since we
only try reading once (instead of repeatedly until a timeout or end of
line occurs), this probably fails.
