I was able to get those to work, but I needed to run upsd and newhidups as
root. I think this is related to having access to the usb device. Possibly
something in the fedora rpms provides this and the ones above don't.
If worse comes to worse I can live with that until 2.2 is in fedora extras.
This did cause me some confusion about what was broken. For a while I thought
it was the kernel, but that ended up not being the case.
I'll let it run for a while and report back if any of the daemons die.
Given the time, I'll try to take a look at the scripts in fedora and try
to clone what they do.
