Doğacan Güney commented on NUTCH-444:
-------------------------------------

Thanks, Chris! I believe this will prove to be very useful.

I just realized there is a minor issue (I don't know why I realize these things
*after* the actual commit).

We can remove jdom.jar from feed/lib because lib-xml already includes that.
This is rather trivial, so I don't think that we need to reopen this one (or
open another issue for that matter). I can just go ahead and do this if that's
OK with you (or, if you want to do this yourself, then please, be my guest :).

> Possibly use a different library to parse RSS feed for improved performance
> and compatibility

> As discussed by Nutch Newbie, Gal, and Chris on NUTCH-443, the current
> library (feedparser) has the following issues:
> - OutOfMemory when parsing > 100k feeds, since it has to convert the feed to
> jdom first
> - no support for Atom 1.0
> - there has been no development in the last year
> Alternatives are:
> - Rome
> - Informa
> - custom implementation based on Stax
> - ??
