Dave Klauber, Bob May and I were joined by John Gluth on today's
CRESLI whale watch cruise out of Montauk. The seas were a bit high at
5-6 feet, but the bird results were pretty good, including an
estimated 350 Wilson's storm-petrels, 250 Cory's shearwaters, 125
greater shearwaters, 1 sooty shearwater, 1 manx shearwater, and 1
adult parasitic jaeger seen briefly at close range. We also had 2
roseate terns and 1 northern gannet. The last Cory's shearwater of
the day was seen west of Shagwong Point. Cetacean results were two
fin whales.
