MASSACHUSETTS N. Wheatear - photos posted, Wed., 26 August, 2009

In Massachusetts, an apparent adult-plumaged Northern Wheatear has been posted on the observer's photo website page for "rarities": http://www.pbase.com/clamflats/essex_bay_rarities - the upper row of photos on the left contained the species in the report, which was posted to the Massachusetts list-serve: http://birdingonthe.net/ mailinglists/MASS.html#1251308529

I mention it here not because I expect NY state birders to 'chase' the bird (that species is too-often, although hardly always, a one- hour wonder in our region) but as it is an interesting-rare sighting, particularly for the date. One might consider whether ex-Hurricane "Bill" could have been in some way involved, although of course the species is known to occur in our region with no storm-related weather.

good bird!
