As reported Monday by Brendan Fogarty, the clam kill persists. Combined with the dune lagoons created by Bill made for excellent birding. The highlights were two Lesser Black-backed on the beach. One 1st year, one older. Four Whimbrel. One in a lagoon before the base of the jetty and three flybys on the beach. 15 shorebird species in all including 12 Pipings. No shorebirds off the coast guard station but plenty of boats and bathers. Danny on the way. video of the Whimbrel and Lesser Black-backed Gull (as well as the Jamaica Bay Avocet) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3RM374roUk good birding evan
