Makes perfect sense to me. On the other hand if salamanders existent-or-not can save it when rare owls can't, then I'll spread the word that the salamanders are there. Saw at least two harriers and Red Tailed hawks, but no owls. I did see a flock of 6 or 7 Meadowlarks. I got pretty good looks in my scope but when I drove closer to take pictures I was yelled at by someone who told me I should not be on the grass. I asked him why not,and he told me that the town of Riverhead prohibits this because of the threat to the Salamanders in the Grasslands. I told him I thought that salamanders inhabited wet lands and under decayed logs, but he told me that these were his instructions, and he thought it was funny also.
