This morning I found a singing Kentucky Warbler at Ferncliff Forest in Rhinebeck, Dutchess Cty. The bird was singing relatively low to the ground along the Circle Trail, where it gave me a couple brief looks but for the most part remained hidden. It remained very active, moving up the trail a ways before heading deeper into the woods where it continued singing. To reach Ferncliff cross over the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge into Dutchess County and make a right at the first traffic light once over the bridge onto River Road. When you reach a fork a short distance down the road bear left onto Mount Rutsen Road. The parking lot for Ferncliff will be a short distance down Mt. Rutsen on your right. The road is technically closed with signs for a detour due to construction on a small stone bridge further down the road, but traffic to Ferncliff is still permitted so ignore the signs. To reach the Circle Trail take the main trail from the parking lot until you reach a pond. Follow this same trail with the pond on your left and then turn left onto a narrow trail on the other side of the pond, known as the Outlet Trail. Follow this until you see a small trail leading uphill on your right, which is the Circle Trail. Listen for the bird at any point along the trail as it kept moving further down the trail to multiple locations. The kiosk at the trail entrance has maps which can show you this location. Besides the Kentucky there were atleast 16 other warbler species present including Bay Breasted, Blackburnian, Tennessee, Worm Eating, Magnolia, Blackpoll, Black Throated Blue/Green. Good luck, Ryan MacLean
