Somehow, the American White Pelican was left out of my lengthy report for Thursday, 2 September 2010 - one was continuing at the East Pond (not far from the raunt) of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge thru the day (& is among the rarest birds of the refuge right now and this summer, even if it's become quite a regular there for a lot of observers, myself included ;-)
