RED-NECKED GREBE GREAT CORMORANT BLACK SCOTER SURF SCOTER WHITE-WINGED SCOTER PURPLE SANDPIPER SHORT-EARED OWL BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER NORTHERN SHRIKE YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ No reports this week. Cayuga County ------------ 12/5: The 3 PURPLE SANDPIPERS on the south side of the first breakwall at Fair Haven State Park previously reported were seen again on this day and were sighted again on 12/11. Oswego County ------------ 12/7: 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were seen from the south lookout at Derby Hill. The Owls were seen through the week up to 12/11. 12/8: A GREAT CORMORANT was seen from the bluff at Derby Hill. Also seen were all 3 SCOTERS and a RED-NECKED GREBE. Onondaga County ------------ 12/7: The YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER initially found on 12/1 at the north end of the Creekwalk near Carousel was seen this day. There were no further reports of this bird. 12/10: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on 60 Road near the Eagle lookout at Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. Herkimer County ------------- 12/11: A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen on Third Lake Creek Trail near Old Forge. Oneida County ------------ 12/9: 12 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen feeding at the Spring Farm Cares Nature Center in Clinton.
