The BBG (Brooklyn Botanic Garden) birding class recorded 39 species while
at a very birdie Conference House park in the very southern tip of Staten
Island. The highlights were 10 warbler species (Yellow, Magnolia,
Blackburnian, Pine, Palm, B&W, Redstart, Cape May, N.Waterthrush, C.
Yellowthroat),
Scarlet Tanagers (4), Indigo Buntings, 4 woodpecker species. It was very nice
seeing the Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers bleed the trees so that the Cape May
Warbler could feed on the sap and provide us excellent views.
