Hi Orhan and all,

There was indeed a Black Vulture at Montauk in early March 2000. Patricia
Lindsay and I saw it on 5 March and were very excited, given the species' real
rarity on Long Island at that time. It would be seven years before we saw
another Black Vulture on LI.

On second thought I am not sure I have seen a Black Vulture in Montauk around
2000, It may have been my first Turkey Vulture, I started birding around that
time.
But I am sure I saw Black Vultures somewhere around Doodletown, around that
time.
