The male Painted Bunting continues in Prospect Park, Brooklyn and, with the
media attention, many people unfamiliar with the ethics of birding have
been seeking a look at our rare and famous visitor. The green roof on top
of the Lefrak Center is particularly vulnerable to soil compaction, the
grasses are still young and not fully established, and there is some
delicate infrastructure, such as irrigation lines, that are subject to
damage as well.

We ask all birders who witness the uninitiated (or even the initiated)
moving off the paths to encourage them to return to the path - and you
could perhaps even give them some background and info as to why this is so
important.

Here is Peter Dorosh's blog post from today.

Thanks in advance and thanks to all who have pitched in already.
