This Saturday, Aug. 20th we will be conducting the 11th Annual Jamaica Bay Shorebird Festival. It starts at 7:30am and concludes at 4:30pm. There are field trips to both the east and west ponds and several indoor presentations. We'll have refreshments and coffee in the morning. The festival is free but we ask for a nominal donation of $20.00 to help defray our costs. I strongly suggest you bring boots as we'll be walking on the edge of a pond and there will be both water and mud to go through. It's a fun filled day and if you're interested in learning more about shorebirds including ID tips you won't be disappointed.
