Hello all, I'm looking for advice as to what the bird of prey could be that
populates our backyard in the Catskills.
He's been coming on and off, and all other birds disappear when he heads in.
Sometimes gnags of Blue Jays try to chase him away. He had a rabbit for lunch
the other day. The prey was too heavy so the bird guarded it, while knowing he
was being watched from afar. Eventually the bird dragged the prey behind a
bush, only to retrieve it later.

Not sure if its a young golden eagle or a large hawk, or else ...photos at
this Google photo album...:

Any help is very much appreciated, location is 10 miles West of Woodstock, NY

 Thanks much, Martin Pohl
