Today at about 1:30 at Shu Swamp in Nassau County I heard, then observed and
photographed a pair of Common Ravens flying over. This was a first for me on
Long Island. I have heard (maybe it's been reported here) that a pair has been
residing in Roslyn, which is about 10 miles to the southwest (as the raven
flies). These birds flew in from the east and appeared to depart to the
west-northwest, so I can't say that they're still there to be searched for. If
you want to try, there's a boardwalk at the north end of the swamp from which a
wide view is possible.
